Reaching the start point: From Munich, one can take the Bob train to Bayrischzell, and then bus 9588 from there. The route start point lies exactly between the stations Gasthof Baeckeralm and Landl Wachtbrucke.
Ascent and Descent: The first part of the route is a steep zig zag, which starts with nice views, and then enters into forest. One needs to be careful with this part in case of rain. After awhile the steep zigzag ends into a wide mountain road, which continues all the way to Schoenfeldalm. From here one can enjoy the nice views of the valley and surrounding mountains.
From Schoenfeldalm, turn right and walk uphill. The path is not always visible here, but there are plenty or markings here and there, so following them is easy. This leads to an intermediate unnamed peak with a cross. From here turn left and continue along the ridge, which first goes down before going up again and leads to Schoenfeldjoch. The summit cross was broken and lying on the ground.
After a small rest at the summit, one can continue the ridge. This is the most challenging part of the route. Even though the ridge is wide enough, it has huge drops on both sides, so one needs to have head for heights. Also, this ridge is not advisable in wet conditions. After the ridge, the path goes down to Wildenkaralm. From there, one could traverse back to Schoenfeldalm, and then follow the same route as ascent for going down.
