Reaching the start point: The route start point is Hochzirl train station which is easily reachable by trains. If you are traveling from Munich, then you need to buy Werdenfels + Innsbruck ticket. Also, be sure to carry passort/id as the train crosses border between Germany and Austria.
Ascent: The route starts right at the platform 2 of Hochzirl train station. A narrow path quickly leads to a wide forest road, which has a few steep sections. Finally, we encounter a stream, where the wide forest road turns into a narrow zigzag path. At the end of the zigzag path, we are already out of the forest. There is a private hut "Sollnalm" located here, which also has its own flock of sheep. One can enjoy the nice views of the valley as well as Solsteinhaus from here.
The path from here is relatively flat, but narrow at a few places. We have to cross another stream, and then a simple zigzag path leads to Solsteinhaus. On a non-cloudy day one can enjoy the views of Erlspitze, Grosser and Kleiner Solstein.
Descent: The same as the ascent
