Grosser Widderstein (2,533 m) is one of the most famous peaks in Walsertal Mountains. From the top you can enjoy views of Hoher Ifen, Geisshorn, etc.
Ascent: The hike starts from the parking lot in Baad (parking fee 6 EUR). From the parking, an easy flat forest road takes you to Bärgunt-Hütte. From the hut trail becomes narrower but the path is easy and well marked. After crossing several streams and waterfalls, you arrive at Hochalpe hut. Follow the signs to Widderstein. After traversing at the North foot of Widderstein, you will arrive at the entry point of the gully to the summit ridge.
The path is very well marked all the way to the summit. The gully is prone to rockfall, so a helmet is advisable. The scrambling is up to grade I. Once you arrive at the summit ridge, the peak is 10 min away.
