Benediktenwand (formerly Kirchstein) is a 1801 m high ridge in the Bavarian Prealps between the rivers Loisach and Isar and the Jachenau in the south and the monastery Benediktbeuern in the north, from which it also has its name [wikipedia].

The hike starts at Jachenau, and after ascent to the peak continues to Benediktbeuern via Tutzinger Hütte.

The hike is mostly easy, except there are some steep parts close to the summit where ropes are attached for safety.

By public transport: The easiest way to reach there is to take the BOB train towards Lenggries, and from there take a RVO bus 9595 to Jachenau-Petern. Make sure that you board the train in the correct compartment in Munich. Jachenau-Petern bus stop is the starting point of the hike. The hike ends in Benediktbeuern, there is a direct train to Munich from there.

By car: Not possible, please check other routes to Benediktenwand with round trip.

Tutzinger Huette opening time: early May to early November. Please check the their website or call them for current opening times.
