This is a simple hike in the Doi Khun Tan National Park in Northern Thailand. This park is very well-maintained, but not visited by many tourists, neither Thai nor foreign. There are gardeners and rangers protecting the park and welcoming you at the entrance.

The GPX starts slightly above the Khun Tan train station. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow. Trail-running shoes are sufficient. The trail leads along four different viewpoints (camps), with the last one also being the highest one. I took the same way back that I came, but it is possible to make a slightly longer loop and deviate to a waterfall. This loop is equally well-marked on the local maps.

Food and drinks can be bought at the Khun Tan train station and in a shop shortly after entering the park. Entrance fee for the park was 100 Thai Baht in December 2019 for foreign adults.

By train: I took the 6:30 a.m. train from Chiang Mai to Khun Tan. Arrive a bit early at the Chiang Mai Train Station in order to get your ticket and bring your passport, as you need it for buying the ticket. One third-class ticket cost 15 Thai Baht in December 2019. Officially, the train ride takes about one hour, but due to construction works, it actually took 1.5 hours. There is a train back from Khun Tan to Chiang Mai at 1:30 p.m. and another one at 6:30 p.m.

There are tents and bungalows that can be rented in order to enjoy a night in the park. I didn't test them, but they looked very well-maintained and clean.

Bring mosquito repellent and enough water.
