Spain's highest mountain is hikable mostly all year round. If you want to spend a night in the Refugio Altavista make sure to get your reservation a month or so ahead. The 60 beds are frequently all occupied but staying at the Refugio includes the permit to hike to the peak early the next morning.You will have to bring your own food!

This route starts at the Montaña Blanca parking at TF-21, from there you follow the hiking path Sendero No. 7. It starts kind of easy which is nice to get into your rhythm. To get to the Refugio Altavista takes about 2.5h. From there you continue upwards until Mirador la Fortaleza follow path No. 11 to the cable car station. There you will find the checkpoint for going up to the summit (path No.10).
