Drachenwand is a rock face at 1176 m above sea level in the Salzkammergut mountains, a mountain group in the Northern Limestone Alps. Due to its attractive tourist location on the western shore of Lake Mondsee, it is a popular destination for hikes from St. Lorenz. Its wooded southern side has only a slight incline, but to the north it forms an impressive, almost vertical rock face about 700 metres high, which dominates the panorama of northern Mondsee. Ascent: The klettersteig is very crowded in sunny weekend days. It must be avoided in rainy/wet conditions. The entrance wall with two ladders leads to a loophole from where you can take a short break and enjoy the fantastic view down to Lake Mondsee. At one point, you will find a bifurcation, the left variant has a C/D section and the right variant has the rope bridge. We took the right variant.

Descent: The descent is through steep forest with narrow path. Sure footedness is required.
