Rosskopf (2189 m) also known as Monte Cavollo is very famous mountain close to Vipiteno. Specially in winter because of long sledging (10 Km) and skiing area.

Ascent: In winter the only way to go up is on skitour following the ski slope. You need to buy the skitouren ticket at the cable car station (Price in 2020: 8:50 EUR). The path diverges after walking approx. 1 hour on ski slope to the forest towards the hut "Furl Huette". From there you follow again the ski slope for a while before arriving to the ridge that leads to the summit. The ridge can be exposed on some places. Final part of the ridge to the peak can be icy so crampons might be helpful.

Descent: Follow the Ski slope or the sledge route down to the cable car station.
