At the western edge of the Hardangervidda plateau, you’ll find Trolltunga (Troll's tongue) – the most spectacular rock formation in Norway. Trolltunga is a rock jutting into space 700 metres above Ringedalsvatnet lake! The hike through high-mountain terrain up to Trolltunga is long and demanding, but you are rewarded with magnificent views.

There are three points from where the hike can be started and those are three parking lots: P1 in Tyssedal, P2 Skjeggedal – Main Trailhead, and, P3 Mågelitopp. Hiking distance is maximum if you start from P1 and hiking distance is shortest if you start from P3. However, to park your car at P3, you have to pre-book a spot. Additional information regarding car parking is available here: https://trolltunga.com/parking-and-transportation/.

public transport: easiest option to reach this hike is from Odda (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odda). Shuttle buses run between Odda, P1 Tyssedal and P2 Skjeggedal and from P2 Skjeggedal to P3 Mågelitopp. However, please keep in mind that these shuttle buses run only between May and September.

The trail is icy and snowy almost throughout the year, so Crampons come really handy.

If you are not expert enough, it is always recommended to take a guide in the hike (especially if you are not hiking between June and September).
