<p><b>Hohe Göll (2522 m)</b> is the highest peak in the Göll massif on the eastern edge of the Berchtesgaden Alps. The border between the Berchtesgadener Land in Bavaria (Germany) and the Tennengau in Salzburg (Austria) runs over its summit. Built up from Dachstein limestone, the Hohe Göll towers above the Salzach valley over 2000 metres and was described by Ludwig Purtscheller as "a landmark in the magnificent mountain wreath of the old Salzach city of Salzburg". One of the most famous representations of the mountain from the Bavarian side is the Göll reflection in Hintersee [wikipedia].</p><p>There are several routes leading to Hoher Göll, this route is mostly done in Winter as Skitour or Snowshoe tour. In case of bad weather/emergency, it's also used as emergency decent in case of bad weather.</p><p><b>Ascent: </b>From the Hinterbrand parking lot you first walk about 30 min in forest. Then the path becomes steep and there are steel cable for security (slippery in winter).</p><p>Soon after the cables are finished keep left and follow the long steep ascent towards AlpelKoepfe. Some sections narrow and steep (up to 40 degree). Once you arrive at the high plateau, the right path (ski tour) goes to Hohes Brett and the left one continues to Hoher Göll . </p><p>After walking through the plateau, the path becomes steep again and soon you will arrive at the ridge to Hoher Göll. A special care has to be taken on the ridge with snow conditions, any mistake can be deadly.&nbsp;</p><p><b>Descent: </b>Same as ascent.<br></p><p><b>Note: </b>Please note that we didn't follow the planned route exactly but <a href="https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/4707855262" target="_blank">this route (GPX)&nbsp;</a>depending on conditions.</p>
