Birnhorn, the highest peak of the Leoganger Steinberge, is one of 30 most prominent peaks of the Alps. Its 1400m tall southeast rock wall is one of the highest of the east Alps, comparable to Watzmann Ostwand.

The normal route requires climbing UIAA I and the route via Kuchelnieder is a via ferrata B.
