The hike starts from the parking lot of the ski station of La Bresse Vologne. Close to the Lac de la Lande, the route crosses a mountain bike (VTT)- only track, be very careful of the fast coming bikers!

The road goes smoothly up until the Collet du Rainkopf and a nicely indicated trail leads to the Kastelberg.

One can also quickly visit the beautiful Frankenthal just downhill of the Kastelberg. Just be careful on the path downhill through the woods: the rocks and roots can be slippery and the path is closed in winter. The same is true for the path climbing up again from the Frankenthal: also in late spring it is possible to find important patches of snow, be prepared to detours on your ascent!

A quick descent on an easy route leads to the Collet. From here, follow briefly the road towards the Lac de Retournemer, and then take the track to the right towards the same lake. The tour of the lake through the forest is very interesting.  A small hike uphill brings back to the road. Just by crossing the road you get to a path running parallel to it, from which you can reach back the parking lot.
