After leaving the parking spot we go through the forrest till we reach the first highlight of the day. The Dalfazer waterfall is the highest waterfall in the entire Rofan Mountains with a drop of around 60 meters. It is also the largest waterfall on Lake Achensee. There are even some couches there where you can lie and observe this great beauty and listen to the rushing water. We keep then going till we reach Dalfazalm, that is about 500 meters above sea level on a panoramic terrace with first great view of the day on Achensee. We turn then direction Erfurterhutte. From the mountain station of the Rofan cable car past the Erfurter hut in a westerly direction on route 413 down into a small depression and past the south side of the Rotspitze to the Durrakreuz, a viewpoint with a bench. From here on a narrow path to the north, steeply branch off to the very striking Rotspitze. After a short detour to the summit of the Rotspitze (2067 m) we go down through mountain pines and then along the ridge to the Dalfazer Roßkopf (2143 m). A short, rocky steep step is insured with a wire rope. In the up and down it always goes along the ridge over the Dalfazjoch in the direction of Hochiss, until the path joins the normal path that leads from the Dalfazalm to the Hochiss. Then it goes briefly along the rock, then wider over the steep meadow slope up to the Streichkopfgatterl. Once again up a few switchbacks and we are on the Streichkopfgatterl on the Dalfazerkamm. We switch to the southern side of the ridge and descend a few meters to then hike at the same height over a narrow, somewhat exposed path towards the Rotes Klamml. The name Rotes Klamml is derived from the red color of the rocks. The way to the Klamml was already strikingly red. Now it is time to climb the Rote Klamml, a short, about ten meter high chimney secured with a wire rope. After the Rote Klamml the path continues narrow and somewhat exposed at a relatively same height until we come to an intersection. Here the path branches off to the Hochiss summit, which we reach in a good five minutes, with the summit cross always in view. The last few meters are easy over rock until we are on the top of the highest Rofan mountain. No matter which way you get up here, the panorama is magnificent!! Whether across the Karwendel or to the nearby Rofan peaks Spieljoch, Seekarlspitze and Rofanspitze, to the Gschöllkopf or towards the main Alpine ridge including several famous 3000s in Austrian Alps. After enjoying all this beauty we go down to Erfurterhutte through a path that leads directly to a rock face, immediately before we pass two cave entrances. The path leads narrowly around the rock corner, followed shortly afterwards by a short, rope-insured climb over rock and slabs of rock. The short piece can also be climbed without the rope safety device. We will have again wonderful views of Achensee and of the Rofans ridges.
After a well deserved long pause at Erfurterhutte for food and drinks we go down till Buchau Waterfalls and finally to parking spot.
