"The Alpine Path of the Dolomites no. 1, known as the "classical", is developed along a 12-stage route of about 125 km that connects Lake Braies with Belluno. Crossing the heart of the Dolomites, in their central part, from Pusteria (in the Province of Bolzano) to the thresholds of the Veneto plain, passing between the Dolomites of Braies, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Val di Zoldo, Agordino and Belluno, this hiking itinerary offers wonderful landscapes and strong emotions. Well marked, the Alta Via takes place on routes that are not particularly demanding, always equipped in the most difficult sections." We split the path into 7 stages in order to finish the Alta Via in 6.5 days. In my opinion, this is a good balance if you are trained, it's not too hard and not too easy.

1) From Braies Lake - to - rifugio Fanes (there around there are 4 huts: Ücia Pices Fanes,
Rifugio Fanes, Lavarellahütte and Ücia dles Muntagnoles) This place is really crowed due to the Braies Lake)

2) From rifugio Fanes - to - Rifugio 5 Torri (there are 4 huts there: Rifugio Averau, Rifugio Nuvolau, Rifugio Scoiattoli, Rifugio 5 Torri)

3) From 5 Torri - to - Palafavera

4) From Palafavera - to - Rifugio Vazzoler

5) From Rifugio Vazzoler - to - Rifugio Sommariva Pramperet (here you can -have- to rent the klettersteig/via ferrate set for 10 euro. It will be delivered to Rifugio 7 Alpini, once finished the via ferrata)

6) From Pramperet - to - Bivacco Marmol

7) From Bivacco Marmol - to - Belluno

To reach the place we parked the car here then we took the bus 442 to Lago di Braies.
