Kleiner Watzmann (2,307 m) / Watzmannfrau (Watzmann's wife) is not so popular summit but it offers great views of Watzmann and it's children.
Ascent: The starting point of the hike is Königsee parking lot. Follow the path (443) to Kühroint hut, the path is easy and broad. From Kühroint follow the narrow path to Kederbichl. From there you follow the narrow ridge all the way to the summit. You have great views of Watzmann and the wall between Watzmann and Hocheck. There are some spots with UIAA II scrambling. The path is well marked with red lines and cairns. On the crux there is small rope for safety. In the slab just below the summit there is cave marked by pole which can be used as bivuaoc.
Descent: For the descent follow the ridge on the east but you always stay on the left on the ridge and sometimes quite far from the ridge. The path is marked with red dots and cairns but it's possible to get lost easily. Some spots require UIAA II scrambling but otherwise the path is easier compared to ascent. The ridge ends in Mooslahnerkopf and from there follow the steep route in the forest to Kühroint.
It's possible to continue to the same path as ascent or descent to Königsee. Make sure you catch the last boat from St. Bartholoma if you plan to descent to Königsee.
Safety: Helemt is required, rope is not required for experienced hikers.
Take the train to Berchtesgaden. From there Bus 841 to Königssee.
The traverse is not marked, follow the visible path.
