The Kofel is a 1342 m high mountain in the Ammergau Alps.  Due to its exposed position and striking shape, it can be seen from afar from the Ammergau and from the direction of the Ettal.

From the top of the Kofel you have a magnificent view in several directions. To the north you can see the Pulvermoos and the Ammer Valley, to the south-east the Weidmoos.

The summit ascent is very well secured with many steel ropes, but you should be absolutely sure-footed and free from giddiness to master the "easy" climb. Alternatively you can wait below the summit ascent, then it is an easy round trip.

On the way down you can have a break at Kolbensattel, it's also possible to ride the famous Alpine Coaster

A perfect half day tour
