Route to Sonnenspitze starting from Ehrwalder Almbahn station parking lot via Hohen Gang, Seebensee, Coburger Hütte, Drachenkopfnormalweg, Sonnenspitzsteig (Normalweg to the peak).

Although one cannot see it on the map here on the website, the Normalweg or Sonnenspitzsteig runs parallel to Südgrat but is lower.  (see screenshot included)

Helmet, proper boots, gloves needed. Also a couple of slings and carabiners (Bandschlinge + HMS) for securing at some rope sections are advisable as the terrains is rather exposed and can be handy when descending. Not necessary needed with harness, there are other ways to quickly secure yourself just with band slings and couple of carabiners.

Surefootedness, head for heights, well versed in scrambling is needed.

Note: After going the sideway exposed part of the steel rope section (see pics) the next up steeper part up has one steel rope with a loose end. Here come the slings (Bandschlinge) in handy as you can pull it through the hook and use it as an anchor point to help you up by ascent. Also really handy in for descent the same way.
