Route Information
Ascent to Katzenkopf via Kramersteig & over St.Martins hut am Grasberg.
Continue following the signs to Königstand. At some stage you will see the pathway leading upwards left near a cliff (shaddow showing towards left). You continue this way over this less frequented path up to Katzenkopf. We saw in total 3 people going the same way after us. It is usually the locals who go this way.
From Katzenkopf towards Kramerspitz you will be going along the ridge and following Kramersteig path, passing by Mittergern peak as well. Some sections are secured with rope.
Descent is coming back same way over Kramersteig and taking the Kramersteig downhill towards the beginning of the hike following the forsterweg to Brauhausstrasse.
St.Martin hut is about 1/3 of the way up. You will see the sign for it.
Surefootedness, head for heights and experience is needed for this hike.
Not recommendable to do this hike in snowy conditions. The pathway to Katzenkopf from zum Königstand path is very steep, with grass & mud combo. Best to do it when the weather is dry and snowfree.
