Scheinbergspitze (1,929 m) is one of the most popular skitour/snowshoes tour in Ammergau Alps. On good sunny day you can expect crowded summit. One of the reasons for its popularity is relative low avalanche danger, and easy access to the mountain. Another winter route is through the South ridge. However, its not so popular due to steepness.
Ascent: From the parking lot follow the forest road towards Scheinbergspitze. The road is mostly flat but becomes steep at the end before the trail goes in the forest. You will often see DAV directions for skitour/snowshoes. There are some steep sections that might be icy depending on conditions. Once you arrive at the ski depot, the summit it 30-40 min away on the East ridge. The ridge is usually icy and there is some scrambling involved so it's good idea to bring crampons. Last 20-30 m you have a rope for the safety. If you try to attempt the summit, you have to be sure-footed and no fear of heights.
Descent: You follow almost the same route as ascent except some detours.
