Walser Hammerspitze (2,170 m) is located at the border between Germany and Austria and is popular destination all year around. In winter it's done mostly from Kleinwalsertal as a skitour or snowshoe tour.
Ascent: The tour starts from Schwende parking lot (parking fee 6 EUR), following the road till Untere Wiesalpe. Soon the path becomes slightly steep and goes through forest. With several zig-zag turns at around 1,700 m elevation the path meets the summer path. Follow the summer path till Wannenalpe. From there turn left toward Walser Hammerspitze. In 30-45 min you will arrive at the summit, and enjoy the views :-)
Descent: Follow the same path till Wannenalpe. Then continue further along the summer path towards Fiderepass hut. At around 1,870 m elevation leave the summer path and prepare for the descent towards Vordere Wildenalpe. Then you will enter a steep forest before arriving finally the road again. From the road follow the road till parking.
