The Schafreuter (also Schafreiter) is a magnificent panoramic mountain in the Vorkarwendel. From the freestanding border mountain between Bavaria and Tyrol, you have a wonderful view of the Karwendel main ridge and the Bavarian Pre-Alps. The quickest way to get to the Schafreuter is from the Rißtal valley via the Kälbereck. But before you can enjoy the panoramic view from the summit, you first have to climb a good 1200 meters in altitude. It is very attractive to choose the alternative descent from the Schafreuter via the Tölzer Hütte. On the interesting path, which leads over the rugged southeast ridge to the Tölzer hut, you are expected by some entertaining scrambles. In the beautifully situated alpine club hut, which is already in Tyrol, you can finally stop and enjoy the wonderful view of the Karwendel, before it goes via the branch at Kälbereck back to the Rißtal.

Note: The route is an easy T2 trail for the most part. Only near the peak you have some rocks (approx 800 metres in total, classified here as T4)
