Große Grieskogel (3,066 m) is not very popular due to a much popular neighbouring peak Großes Wiesbahhorn. However, the views of glaciers and lakes are breathtaking from the summit. The hike is relatively short if you take the bus from Kesselfall Alpenhaus which I highly recommend. Otherwise it can be very long day trip.
Ascent: From the lake Mosserboden, follow the marked trail towards Grieskogel. The path is easy and well marked till Kleiner Grieskogel. From Kleiner Grieskogel continue toward the East ridge of Großer Grieskogel. From there follow the ridge all the way to the summit. There are some sections require scrambling upto grade II. In winter you might need to bring a rope to secure yourself on the exposed sections of the ridge.
Descent: Same as ascent.
