An eventful circular hike from Scharnitz leads us through the Gleirschklamm and above it back to the starting point.
Wood is no longer rafted on the Gleirschklamm near Scharnitz, but a beautiful path leads through the gorge. Numerous waterfalls line our way. From Scharnitz we reach the gorge in a one-hour hike along easy-to-walk paths. The path through the gorge is exposed in some places. Critical passages on the mountain are secured with ropes, but the gorge falls unsecured. On this 12 km tour we are on the road for about 4 hours and climb 300 meters in altitude.
Surefootedness and a head for heights are required. After heavy downpours the gorge may not be passable, a quick call to the information office in Scharnitz is recommended.
