We crossed the ridge from the west to the east. There is one smallish climbing part on the ridge from Hauptgipfel to Ostgipfel. We did this part but there is also another way that goes down and avoids the climbing section completely. The scree/gravel is loose in some places. The ridge is exposed but the path is mostly easy to find except for a couple of tricky spots (where you have to go down from the ridge a bit).
Also there is not explicit path down from Ostgipfel to the marked way, so you can get a bit creative. :) But once you are back on the marked path it's pretty straight forward and you meet the original path below the Westgipfel.
