Day 2 of the crossing starts at Rifugio Sandro Pertini (or Plattkofel hut) with an easy westbound hike without much gain or loss of height towards Tierser Alpl hut which should be reached after around 2 hours. North of the hut, via ferrata Maximilian starts (grade B) and immediately leads up to Großer Rosszahn, the first peak of the day. The ferrata continues to the west and changes into a normal hiking path shortly after a crossroads. You follow the path and turn around to the left, heading towards Tierser Alpl hut once again, which lends itself to a short lunch break.
From the hut, the route continues to the South towards the heart of Rosengarten / Catinaccio. Instead of following the normal way, we turn to left onto via ferrata Laurenzi and the Molignon range. With grade D this is a much more difficult ferrata than the previous one, besides its strong exposure and its length.
At the end of via ferrata Laurenzi we can either choose to turn left directly towards our target for today, Rifugio Antermoia. If time and mood permit, we can alternatively turn right and add another ferrata to today's itinerary to cross Kesselkogel. the highest peak of Rosengarten and our trip (3004 m). After the descent on its other side, we can either sit down for a coffee at Grasleitenpasshütte or turn left around Kesselkogel and finally adjourn to Rifugio Antermoia.
