Drachenkopf (2302 m) is a high mountain of the Mieminger chain in Tyrol above the Coburger Hütte. The views of Drachensee and Seebensee are amazing. This tour is not suitable for beginners. A very good fitness, sure-footedness and no fear of height is required for this tour.

Ascent: The tour starts from parking lot of the "Ehrwald Almbahn" (1103 m), and follows the trail "812" towards Coburger Hütte. After crossing the forest the trails becomes steep and rocky. This part of the trail is also know as "Hoher Gang", some parts are secured with the rope. Sure-footedness is required for this part. The views of Zugspitze is breathtaking.

Soon the trail becomes wider and flat and you reach Seebensee (1657 m). The lake is surrounded by high mountains Sonnenspitze, Tajakopf and Drachenkopf. After walking along the lake for a while, and then a short steep trail, you will arrive at Coburger Hütte (1917 m).

From the hut, follow trail "814" towards "Vorderer Drachenkopf" (the sign post says 2 hours to the peak), and soon turn left towards "Vorderer Drachenkopf". The trail is full of gravel and soon you will start climbing. The climb is not so difficult up to grade 1+. At the peak you can see very beautiful mountains all around.

Descent: The descent is the same way to the hut and then all the way down to Seebensee. There we follow the alternative trail over Seeben Alm (1566 m) back to Ehrwald Almbahn.
