Long tour on the main ridge of Karwendel from Pleisenspitze to Birkkarspitze. It's best to do this tour in 3 days with overnight stay in Pleisenshütte and Karwendelhaus.
The tour starts in Scharnitz. From the parking follow the marked path to Pleisenshütte and then to Pleisenspitze and descent down to the hut on the same way.
From Pleisenshütte follow the path to Toni Gaugg Weg. The path is marked and not so difficult but still quite exhausting. The last part to Breitgrieskarspitze requires scrambling up to grade I. Then again follow the marked path till Sekkarsattel. From the saddle, you can do both Kleine and Grosse Seekarspitze. Be careful with the brittle rocks.
From the saddle you start the ridge traverse on the pathless and very brittle rock. There is one section which is very exposed and requires III scrambling. Otherwise most of the ridge is grade I/II till Marxenkarspitze. From Marxenkarspitze the path becomes easier and soon it merges on the normal marked path to Ödkarspitze. Some parts are secured with rope. After the 3 Ödkarspitze, you reach the bivouac and from there you can do Birrkarspitze. Then continue the marked trail to Karwendelhaus, some parts on this section are very steep.
From Karwendelhaus, you can follow the long and easy trail to Scharnitz.
