Krapfenkarspitze is located in the heart of the Soierngruppe, the four Karwendel main chains upstream to the north. It is a fairly remote mountain that can not be reached "quickly" on any route. The longest but most beautiful ascent leads from the Rißtal over the long gallows rod crest to the summit. It is especially beautiful in early summer, when the flora shines in all its splendor, or in the fall, when you can really enjoy the good views in the clear air. The tour is not difficult, but the steep slopes require some attention. The descent on the old Lakaiensteig is a beautiful trip.
The path starts from Oswaldhütte in the forest road where it quickly goes through forest. You have to be very attentive as it's often very difficult to find a way. A good GPX device and good orientation skills are required. After steep forest, you will reach the first peak of the ridge Fermerskopf (1851 m). That's the first peak of the ridge, the views of Karwendel and Herzogstand-Heimgarten and Walchensee are breathtaking. The path from Bayerkarspiitze (1908 m) to Dreierspitze (1962 m) is T3(I) which goes through dense bushes sometimes. Further ridge to Krapfenkarspitze (2110 m) becomes rocky and requires some scrambling and surefootedness. The last peak in the ridge is Gumpenkarspitze (2010 m). The views of Soiernsee, Soiernspitze and Schoettelkarspitze is stunning.
The tour is 25 Km long and requires good stamina, if it's too much for you, there is an alternative route which skips the second half of the ridge.
