Absolutely wonderful 2 day hike with overnight stay at Landsberger Hütte. More day also possible. The area is more than worth it.
Public transport (smooth connections) from Munich to Hinterstein, Grüner Hut (3h).
From there I did a wonderful hike over the ridge and several peaks to beautiful Schrecksee where I cooled down and had a little swim. From there I went over to Landsberger Hütte. Very cute hut in a wonderful scenery. There are three peaks one can get to in less than an hour - I went to Schochenspitze for sunrise, which was absolutely beautiful and one of my highlights.
On the way back to Hinterstein I changed the route spontaneously and added a few peaks so that I ended up taking the route via Vilsalpsee, Fischerstube to Obere Roßalpe, Zirleseck, Zipfelsalpe and down to the bus stop.
What I loved is, that you can be fairly flexible with picking your route. You can add or skip a peak as you wish. I added what I could :)!
If you walk the ridge you don't need a Klettersteig set, but you will need to use your hands quite a few times. If you are not comfortable with that you can walk the "Jubiläumsweg" and keep your hands on the poles. If you are a Ferrata fan there is an amazing route next to Landsberger Hütte. Next time, I'll definitely bring my set.
