The Vorderskopf is a small summit in the Austrian part of the Karwendel. It is "famous" cause of its big meadow on top. The route has long wood passages and can be very dirty if it is wet.

You walk from Kaiserhütte short time on the street to Hinterriß. Soon you will notice a small wooden bridge on the right geting you over the Rißbach. After you have taken the bridge walk left on the country road.

About 15 mins later there will be another country road on the right, there you will see a sign leading to the Vorderskopf. It leads up a samll path at the country road crossing. It can be missed, so be attentive. The route now will be mostly in the wood. You will cross a country road once, until you reach a hunting hut (about 2h after Kaiserhütte) which is a good resting place.

Now you just follow the route uphill. After some meadow you have to take the right route which leads to the summit. There the small summitcross is right handed on the huge meadow. Now you will have the first good sight on the surrounding mountains.

The Vorderskopf is smaller as its surrounding summits, so its opponents stopp the view. But you will notice that, cause of its throne like place in the beginning Rißtal, the visit was worth it.

On your way down be carefull, as it is not hard to miss the route in some areas until you reach the hunting hut.
