Hochfeiler / Gran Pilastro (3,510 m) is the highest mountain of the Zillertal Alps on the border between Austria and Germany. You can enjoy the beautiful summit panorama with the views of Venediger group, Dolomites, Stubai alps etc.

Ascent: The route starts from the parking lot 3 Kehre (no parking fee). The path initially goes through the forest before bending to the North East with beautiful views up to the summit sometimes. The technical difficulty of the route till the hut is T3. The signpost at the parking says 3 hours 10 min to the hut. If you don't want to stop at the hut, you can directly continue towards the summit ridge bypassing the hut.

From the hut the path goes through a steep gully with fixed cables and hooks. From there you have to follow the SW ridge all the way to the summit. You always have to stay on the left of the ridge. The last 50m to the summit is quite steep and might be covered with the snow and ice. You need ice axe and crampons in that case. If there is no show that part is an easy climb.

Descent: You can follow the same path and decide to pass through the hut if you want.

Weather: at summit
