This is a Megamarsch route. It features a 100km distance from Munich to Mittenwald to be covered in 24 hours. The route is expected to be taken during Megamarsch event https://www.megamarsch.de/münchen because during this time it features rest stations and organization of the route. The route is hard due to decent altitude gain at around 70km mark. The average completion rate is relatively low due to many people not preparing their gear such as trailrunner shoes, light backpack, no poles etc. thus leaving the track due to blisters in major. Preparation with 30+ km walks is recommended as well as good broken trailrunner shoes. During the event it is not mandatory to finish the distance with possibility to leave at checkpoints. The route during Megamarsch is not intended as a running event. Rather walking.
