The first stage of this long two days tour leads from the center of St. Anton am Arlberg in Tyrol through the Verwall Valley to the Konstanzer Hütte at 1,688 m.
From the center of St. Anton am Arlberg, we head southwest, cross the main road and follow the banks of the Rosanna. Always along the Rosanna River we hike through the Rosanna Gorge into the Verwalltal.
We pass the scenic Verwallsee before turning right at the Verwall reservoir and continuing into the valley. The Trail leads directly to the Konstanzer Hütte at 1,688 m. Directly behind the Konstanzer Hütte, a forest path leads into the Schönverwall. This path takes you comfortably uphill to the Schönverwallalpe. From the alp, the forest road becomes a path that initially follows the valley floor. We take a detour towards Langer See, entering shortly the Silbertaler Winterjôchl. Langsee is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Vorarlberg. It is located in the quiet and hardly developed rear Silbertal at 1,950 m above sea level in the Verwall Natura 2000 area in Vorarlberg's Montafon. With a bit of luck you can see the reflection of the surrounding mountains in the Langsee, especially the Pateriol (3,056 m), which is also known as the Matterhorn of the Verwall. The contrast between the summery green of the meadows and the rocks of the Pateriol is particularly impressive with a small Island at the centre. The lake is almost 360 m long and 110 m wide at its widest point. It has an area of around 2.66 hectares. The maximum depth is 8 m, the mean depth is 2.8 m.
The Langsee is part of the Verwall Natura 2000 area, which has been designated since 1995, and is located in the largest contiguous natural area in Vorarlberg. where the largest larch pine forests in Vorarlberg, numerous moors, mountain pine, alder and alpine rose bushes, colorful alpine meadows and rugged rock habitats are The seclusion of the region offers retreats for many plants, birds and wild animals.
After a nice break at this paradise, we go back to Schönverwall where we keep following the Albonabach and finally after a steep elevation we reach the Scheidseen. The Heilbronner Hütte stands on a rock step above the lakes. Here we spend the night. The day after, having had a good recharging breakfast we proceed towards steeply for a short stretch to the east, but still the path remains rather leisure. Once we have reached the height of 2400m, the profile of the path becomes much flatter and finally downhill to 2300m in the valley head of the Ochesental. We reach the Muttenjoch, a saddle between the Glatter Berg and the Gaißspitze. We pass through Brüllersee and from there we summit Hohe Köpfe from which we can enjoy a wonderful view to the valleys around! We go down and then further along the Fasultal ridge till we reach Fasultal, another beautiful valley that will bring us back to St. Anton. On the way we make a recharging break at Konstanzer Hütte.
