User provided description:
Via paths, glacier slopes and ice flanks, the Wilder Freiger (3,418 m) in the Stubai Alps in Tyrol can be climbed from several sides and in many ways. The two-day mountain tour via the Nürnberger Hütte is imposing.
On the 1st day, it goes comfortably in 2½ hours via the Bsuachalm to the Nürnberger Hütte. We spend the night here.
On the 2nd day, the route first goes to the Seescharte (2,762 m), which is reached from the Nürnberger Hütte via many serpentines. Then the path leads below the Gamsspitze over coarse boulders to the glacier entrance (approx. 3,160 m).
Over a ridge it now goes up to approx. 3,340 m. After a firn field it goes past a stone toll house to the summit ridge.
Gear: standard equipment for mountain tours incl. helmet, crampons, sticks. Axe not required in good conditions. There is no more danger of crevasses on the firn fields, so no need for harness and rope.
