He is the higher one of two different brother summits: whereas neighbouring Plankenstein is a bold and remarkable rock feature, well known to Munich climbers.

Risserkogel is a classic mountain for Munich folks within Bavarian Alps. For beginners, for late risers, for just being out and up a bit, for a nice ski tour, for an excuse if there is not much snow for skiing, for a “presentation” of a real summit after having used Wallberg cableway.

Situated at the very end of the Tegernsee / Kreuth valley, Risserkogel is the highest elevation of the Wallberg subgroup. Trails are easy and not really exposed. On the last ridge section to the summit, there are some steel hooks for the grip.
