Hirschhörnlkopf (1514 m) is not so frequently visited mountain in the Bavarian Prealps northwest above Jachenau and 3.8 km east of the Jochberg. The ascent is from Jachenau or Kochel. These are easy hikes on forest roads and paths.The Hirschhörnlkopf is often climbed on foot even in winter because of its south-facing ascent.
Ascent: From Jachenau follow the wide forest road towards Hirschhörnlkopf, there are sign post at every bifurcation to guide you. After walking about 2.5 Km, the path becomes narrower and steeper in the forest but not difficult. After the forest walk towards Pfundalm and also the summit cross of Hirschhörnlkopf is visible. From the summit, you can enjoy the views of Karwendel, Zugspitze and other mountains in Wettersteins, Benediktenwand, Heimgarten, Herzogstand, Jochberg, Walchensee etc.
Descent: Descent on the same way as ascent and soon you will se a signpost to Kotalm. Follow the direction towards Kotalm and Sonnenspitz. Trail ends in Kochel train station.
