Dear buddies,

superbusy time fo the year for many of us but want to have the first white hike before Christmas holidays come. So here i come with a long but rather easy and scenic one ending up in Mittenwald. We start in Garmisch Olympiastadion and we cross the always impressive Partnachklamm ( http://www.partnachklamm-info.de/ ). Declared a natural monument in 1912, the Partnach gorge, 800 metres in length and its walls rise to 80 metres. In December it start to freeze to give space to his winter version with a beautiful play of colors of the blue-glooming, icicles of a length of a couple of meters, that stick out of the steep rock walls, which grow together to a bizarre icy wall. The evergreen Partnach enchants, dancing and rushing through the ice covered rocks.

After the end of the gorge we keep straight direction Ferchensee and Lautersee, two pretty lakes with great views to Wetterstein and Karwendel. First dreamy views at the Zugspitze and the Alpspitze open up in front of you. Finally we take a detour towards south direction Leutaschklamm ( http://www.leutaschklamm.com/index.php ), a deep gorge that runs through the mountains on the border between Leutasch (Austria) and Mittenwald (Germany). It is here that you can see the impressive result of millions of years of erosion up close. The most beautiful part of the route will lead us along the steel walkways and bridges high above the gorge. At the panorama bridge we continue the track along the Kobold path.

We finally take our way to the historic town center of Mittenwald, one of the prettiest villages in Bayern, where we have the chance to go to the local Christmas markets ( https://www.alpenwelt-karwendel.de/en/christmas-market-in-mittenwald ) that are open only on that weekend and celebrate with a Glühwein together :)
