Schweinsberg (1514m) is part of mangfall mountains. Even though it has higher peaks of Wendelstein and Breitenstein nearby, the panoramic views from Schweinsberg are simply awesome. The hike can also be combined with Breitenstein.
Reaching the start point: The best way to reach the start point is to take a Bob train from Munich to Fischbachau. The route starts right from the train station
Ascent: From the train station we first follow the street for some distance before crossing a bridge over Leitzach. After crossing the bridge we turn left, and continue until we reach the highway. Walk along the highway for approximately 100 meters, and take the first exit. This leads us to a mountain road, which is to be followed until we reach a parking lot. From here we turn right, and follow the forest road all along. The forest road has gentle slope, although some shortcuts can be taken to make it more steep. After 1h walk, we reach Kesselalm.
Around 500 meters from Kesselalm, there is a bifurcation. The left part leads to Breiteinstein. In order to go to Schweinsberg, take a sharp right turn here, and follow the way all along until Kothalm (a small hut). From here turn left, and after a bit of walk, we can enjoy the view of Wendelstein. Another left turn followed by overcoming around 50m leaves us at the peak of Schweinsberg.
Note: Even though there is a direct way from Schweinsberg to Breitenstein, it is restricted during some months in winter, so check in advance. Going back to the bifurcation and then continuing to Breitenstein is also possible.
