User provided description:
Popular mountain hike in the Bavarian Alps.
This demanding and traditional route to Bad Wiessee on Lake Tegernsee starts at Lenggries train station. Being in good physical condition and sturdy shoes are a must, as it leads mostly on narrow, steep, stony paths and climbs some mountains. A regional classic is the rocky summit of the Geierstein, from where there are wonderful views of the Brauneck, Lenggries and the Isar. The second well-known peak along the way, the Fockenstein, is not stingy with panoramic views over the Alps and Lake Tegernsee.
There are places to stop for refreshments, one along the way, and a larger selection at the start and end points. The hike can be easily reached by bus and train (train station in Lenggries and Lindenplatz stop in Bad Wiessee).
Highlights of the hike:
- Lenggries
- Detour to Hohenburg Castle (optional)
- Geierstein with summit cross
- Summit of the Fockenstein
- Stop at the Aueralm
- Dwarf Mountain
- Bad Wiessee
- Tegernsee
- magnificent views
