The wonderful hiking tour leads you from Scheidegg through the German-Austrian alpine upland to the mountain Pfänder, 1064 meters. There you will be rewarded with an impressive panoramic view.

The Pfänder rises high above  Bregenz  at 1,064 metres. Altough is not very high, due to its location, when the weather is clear, you have a magnificent view of the entire Alpine panorama (especially Allgäu and Swiss mountains), the Bregenzerwald, the Rhine Valley and Upper Swabia, across the Untersee to the foothills of the Black Forest and the all Bodensee for sure!

Our hike starts at the Kurhaus in Scheidegg, where we follow the official hiking trail signs in the direction to Oberschwenden. We already cover the first few meters in altitude right at the beginning of the trail. At the car park of the Prinzregent Luitpold Children's Clinic we emerge from the forest area and pass the town of Oberschwenden. We continue to follow the hiking trail uphill to the skywalk allgäu . There we can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding landscape high above the treetops. From the panoramic path we hike downhill towards Möggers, keeping left. On the way to the town we cross the state border. It goes steeply uphill for a short time and we reach the Vorarlberg town of Möggers . There we come to the Ulrich Chapel, which is a beautiful vantage point over Lake Constance due to its elevated position. In the town we keep left and hike uphill across a car park until we get to the Hochberg. From there we take an asphalt road downhill. At the next junction we take the gravel road towards Pfänder. We leave the forest area and come to a sloping section of the path. We stay on the high trail, passing two gates, until we come downhill to Moos. There we follow a busy road in the direction of Pfänder , which can be recognized from afar by the striking red and white radio tower. We can follow the well-signposted path to the mountain station of the Pfänder cable car, from where a narrow path takes us further, steeply uphill, to the top of Bregenz's local mountain. On the mountain there are a few restaurants, a playground for families, a wildlife park and an eagle show. All this is rounded off with a magnificent view of the Alps and the entire Lake Constance region as said before. From Pfänder we finally hike to the valley crossing the woods and having more beautiful views to the Bodensee. We finally get a Glühwein together at Bregenz Christmas markets before catching our train back to Lindau and finally to Munich.
