Popular Tour in the Karwendel Foothills
Moderate avalanche risk above the Scheibe during the traverse below the summit.
The Hochplatte is a lovely ski touring summit, equally popular among beginners and seasoned pros. The ascent and descent offer beautiful routes for long stretches. The view of the Karwendel and Rofan ranges from the summit is truly unique.

Route Description
From the inn, ascend the open meadow slopes to Tiefental. From there, follow a gradual forest road into the woods. At a trail junction, continue straight westward through dense forest. At the next junction, veer slightly right and follow an old logging road to the forest edge. Then, cross wide meadows to reach the Falkenmoosalm (no longer in operation).
From the hut, descend briefly and continue through sparse forest to an elevation of 1,500 m. Turn left there and ascend the lightly wooded ridge heading southwest. Climb steeply on the summer trail, circling a rock outcrop on a narrow ledge. The slope becomes noticeably flatter, leading to a broad ridge that heads southwest to the Scheibe.
From there, avoid the steep ridge by keeping to the left. If snow conditions are risky, abandon the tour at this point. The slope drops too steeply to the east to take unnecessary risks.
In stable snow conditions, continue comfortably southwest behind the slope depression to the summit cross.
Descent
The descent follows the same route as the ascent. In good snow conditions, it's worth veering right from the northeast ridge, heading east through sparse forest for some relaxed skiing. Be sure to keep slightly left in time to reach a
