This scenic loop trail offers a perfect mix of adventure, nature, and panoramic alpine views. Starting in Unterammergau, the route leads through the shady and refreshing Schleifmühlklamm gorge, with well-maintained paths, lattice stairs, and free entry. Along the way, you'll pass several beautiful waterfalls and a peaceful forest setting ideal for summer hikes.
A highlight of the hike is reaching the August-Schuster-Haus (Pürschlinghaus) at 1,564 meters, a cozy mountain hut with great local food and stunning views. From here, optional side trails lead to Teufelstättkopf, Sonnenberg, or further to Brunnenkopfhütte. A charming mountain chapel along the ridge invites you to pause and take in the beauty of the Ammergau Alps.
