Starting point
There is a bus from Lenggries to Fall only in summer (from May to October), line 9569 (Lenggries > Eng). In winter, you will have to use a car.
Route
We did that route in winter (March). You go mainly through a forest, meaning avalanche risks are not very high. Snowshoes were not mandatory, but are helpful for the last kilometer.
Once you're at the peak, you have a very nice view on Sylvensteinsee, as well as a few other famous peaks (Guffert for example). Unfortunately in winter crossing the ridge to Demmeljoch is too risky (avalanches).
