Fockenstein (1,564 m) is easy and popular hike which is also popular in winter with snowshoes. For skitouring, it's not very steep for descent but beginners can try it.

The route is well reachable from Munich using BOB and Bus (running from early until late pretty much all year), the highlight being the Aueralm on the way down, which is also open all year, making this an interesting choice for the winter months.

Ascent: Follow the ski slope at the beginning and then a forest road all the way to Aueralm. From Aueralm, the summit is still 1 hour away according to sign post. No technical difficulty on the whole track but you should make sure that you are fit to cover 17.5 Km distance and 875m elevation gain especially if you're doing this in winter.

Descent: You can also sledge from Aueralm, please check the sledging conditions by contacting the hut owner.

Weather: Valley

Take BOB to Gmund, then bus 9559 to Bad Wiessee. The route is pretty well connected - you can even take a ferry on the way back!
