Unterägeri – Gottschalkenberg – Neuheim A ridge traverse above the Ägerisee through the heart of Zugerland

Starting from the quiet village of Unterägeri at the western tip of the Ägerisee, this route climbs steadily through mixed forests and open alpine meadows to the Gottschalkenberg ridge, which forms the natural border between the cantons of Zug and Schwyz. From the high point at around 1,236m, the views open up on both sides — Ägerisee and the Schwyz Alps to the east, the Zugerberg plateau and Lake Zug to the west.

The descent follows forest trails south through Neuheim, finishing in the village center with easy access to public transport. The terrain is consistently pleasant underfoot — wide forest paths, grassy singletracks, and quiet alpine lanes. No exposed sections, no scrambling.
