Technical Difficulty
This ride is NOT suitable for beginners.
- Long distance from Munich with significant elevation gain
- Mixed terrain: asphalt, gravel roads, forest tracks, and rough alpine paths
- Sustained climbs and potential hike‑a‑bike sections
- Alpine hike pushing the bike to Rotwandhaus
Participants should have good endurance, confident bike handling on gravel, and basic mountain hiking experience.

Conditions at altitude can be very different from Munich (cold, wind, snow patches possible).
The hiking part and/or route may be adjusted or shortened depending on weather and trail conditions.
Accommodation
This route includes an overnight stay at Rotwandhaus.
Things to Bring
Bike & Equipment
- Gravel bike in good condition (gearing suitable for long, steep climbs)
- Helmet (mandatory)
- Front & rear lights
- Lock
- Repair kit: spare tube(s), pump/CO₂, tire levers, multitool
Clothing
- Weather‑appropriate layers (temperatures drop significantly at altitude)
- Windproof / waterproof jacket
- Padded cycling shorts
- Warm layer (fleece or light insulated jacket)
- Gloves
- Buff / cap
- Comfortable shoes suitable for hiking (or bike shoes you can walk in)
Food & Hydration
- At least 1.5–2 L of water (refill options may be limited)
- Snacks for the ride and hike
- Money for food & drinks at Rotwandhaus
