This short hike can be undertaken very early in the year to welcome spring. It is a natural walk around Neuchâtell, which ends in the old town and can be concluded with a boat trip, depending on your mood. The climb begins on the northern side of the station, where the Botanical Garden is reached via the Faubourg de la Gare, the Rue de Fontaine-André and a staircase on the left side of the street. Flowers from all over the world show themselves in thematic gardens and greenhouses from their most beautiful side. The park and the associated Café du Jardin offer to linger before the road up to Pierre-à-Bot. There is also a park, an excursion restaurant and plenty of space to have fun. At the western end, the signposted hiking trail leads to the mighty findling Pierre-à-Bot. The Rhone Glacier carried it from the Montblanc massif in the last ice age. The hiking trail then crosses two main roads. At the next possibility, turn right onto a forest path to soon come abar the next signposted hiking trail. This leads through the Gorges du Seyon, past white, moss-covered limestone rocks, which make you forget the quiet noises from the main road at the bottom of the gorge. Soon Gor de Vauseyon is reached, where cannels and mill wheels recall the pre-industrial era. At the restaurant La Maison du Prussien, the Seyon ate deep into the rocks a long time ago. Through a small industrial area you finally come into the city of Neuchâtel and the impressive Château. From here the Escalier du Château leads you into the old town, where you go right to the Place Pury - or even further to the Schifflände.
