Let´s go this time to Est Allgäu in the heart of Ammergau in Kenzen wildlife protected area. Here the king was coming every July to enjoy the wonderful landscapes and hearing concert at night close to the
Kenzen waterfalls. The tour begins near the former royal hunting lodge and runs partly along the European long-distance path E4. Here we have wonderful view to Ammergau in particular to the Matterhorn of Allgäu (Geiselstein) and we can take a look to a beautiful small waterfall nearby.
The trail goes till almost 1800 meters altitude leading to unique panoramic views of mountain peaks and pastures around till we reach Hasentalkopf (1797m). The forces of the earth created a deep and wide green cauldron. Then the circular route was named Kessel. Part of the way leads you along the edge of the cauldron. Many also call it the path the Alpine roses because in early summer there is a sea of Alpine roses blooming there.
Moreover many hikers, including me have seen many chamois and eagles on this route. Coming down from Hasentalkopf we catch E4 hiking a part of the famous Maximilansweg through the idyllic Sägertal and we head to another one of the favourite corners of King Ludwig in summertime. Schloss Linderhof. We cross the beautiful park (park has not entrance fee) and we can enjoy on the way the piece of arts created from the visionaire king. We continue on a paved hiking trail along Kleine Ammer that winds its way through the Weidmoos, a shallow moor where flowers such as the orchid or the cottongrass typical for moorland locations grow. We finally reach Oberammergau.
