Tölzer Hütte (1825m) is a DAV hut lying on the saddle between Schafreuter and Delpsjoch. There are several ways to reach the hut. The route described here is the fastest, and is usually tried early spring.
Reaching the route start: The usual way is to take Bob from Munich to Lenggries, and then bus 9569 from there to route start point in Aufsteig Toelzer huette. Please note that Bayern ticket only covers the bus ride from Lenggries to Oswadhuette. There are two stops between Oswaldhuette and Aufsteig Toelzer huette. You need to pay for them on top of Bayern ticket (the price is approximately 3 EUR/person, and for a group of 10 or more people, you get a 50% discount). Alternatively, you can walk from Oswaldhuette.
Ascent: The wide mountain road leading to Toelzer huette starts right at the bus stop. After 100m or so, we leave the mountain road and enter into a forest road towards the left. The forest road is never too steep. After a series of zig-zag we reach a saddle point with a small resting place. From here we walk along a narrow track which is almost flat, but runs along the edge of the mountain. Finally, we reach a steep grassy slope. During summer this part follows a zig zag pattern, while in case of snow usually a direct ascent is followed, which could be quite exhausting. At the end of this slope we reach the hut from where one can enjoy the nice views of Karwendel. Among many other peaks Schafreuter and Delpsjoch can be reached from the hut.
Descent: The same as ascent
