Dear buddies,

Sonnjoch is one of the most wonderful Karwendel destinations. It rewards the long climb with a magnificent panorama from the summit ridge. We begin the tour in the Falzthurntal at the Gramaialm, through beautiful meadows we continue uphill to the mighty southwestern backside of the Sonnjoch, over which you can steadily gain altitude in many serpentines. With every meter of the view is grandiose, new mountains come into focus, until finally on the summit the far view is complemented by an impressive deep view. It extends to the main Alps, the Bavarian Prealps and the Achensee. On the other side you can look down on Eng and in the impressive walls of Lamsenspitze and Hochglück, further west the Lalidererspitye and finally the Birkkarspitze. In the east a corner of blue Achensee. If you pay close attention, you will probably even see ibexes up here.

On the black (so difficult) marked hiking trail you must now pay particular attention to the many small stones that make many places dangerous - this is especially true for the descent. After a total of 3-3h and half hours walking, the summit cross is reached. Definitely enough time for a break at the summit. Down you walk along the same route of the ascent.
On the way back let´s drink something together and maybe let´s refresh with a swim in Achensee ;)

the Sonnjoch is one of the most beautiful Karwendel destinations. For the long climb it rewards with a magnificent view from the summit ridge. It extends to the main Alpine ridge, the Bavarian Prealps and the Achensee. Was for a wonderful and, above all, varied rise. We look down on the Eng and in the repellent north walls of Lamsenspitze and Hochglück, further west the Laliderer peak. In the west, the Birkkarspitze peaks out. In the east a corner of the inviting Achensee.

Sonnjoch is one of the most exceptional view points of the Karwendel, which rises between the Falzthurntal valley to the east and the so-called "Eng" to the west. Its location and height provides free views from north to east and south. The eastern directions are dominated by the rough north faces of the Karwendels main chain which have a height of several houndred meters.
The Gramaialm lies at an altitude of 1263 meters, the Sonnjoch is 2457 meters high. Thus, a good 1200 meters in altitude. From the Gramaialm you walk towards the end of the valley. Without much Höhenmeteruntreschied is reached after about 20 minutes, the turnoff to Gramai Hochleger. Here follow the hiking path on the right, a sign shows the way. Now it is getting steeper, but perfect for hiking. In succession, a stream is crossed, where you can refill the water bottle again.

The slope continues to increase and you get out of the basin. Soon, the trail is surrounded by rugged rocks, while you yourself is on the way between green alpine meadows. After about 500 meters in altitude, the large alpine meadow of the Gramaialm (Hochleger) is reached. You walk directly past the pasture, then turn right. There is still a piece of alpine pastures, but in consequence, the hiking trail becomes more challenging. The long scree slopes of the Sonnjoch can already be seen. If you pay close attention, you will probably even see ibexes up here.
